Fall Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation Center

Mission

The mission of the Fall Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation Center is to increase awareness of the fatal consequences of a fall and to prevent injuries from falls among community-dwelling older persons, particularly injuries resulting in fractures, such as hip fractures which can result in disability and even death.

We strive to assist older persons, and individuals with disabilities and movement disorders in the long term maintenance and/or improvement of their muscle strength, balance, gait, and mobility through our research-based rehabilitation services.  Through our efforts, we hope to decrease the number of fall-related hospital admissions and patient costs due to injurious falls and improve our client’s overall quality of life.
